Assistance from businesses needed to develop startups: Finance Minister

Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer has stated cooperation and assistance from established businesses are required to improve and develop new startups in the country.

Speaking at the Gold 100 Gala organised by Corporate Maldives, Finance Minister Ameer said the administration aims to empower new ideas and support innovative businesses conducted by youth. The finance minister said the assistance from huge and established businesses, such as the Gold 100, is required for small businesses and startups.

Noting the administration not only aims to fund small and medium sized enterprises, Ameer stated it aims to mentor and counsel youth in business. He expressed it is important to work towards enhancing sectors contributing to the economy to ensure global impacts does not affect Maldives.

Furthermore, the finance minister noted it is crucial to develop human resources and introduce local products to the country.
