Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has revealed it is investigating 83 cases related to the activities held to mark the 50th Independence Day of Maldives in 2015.
Speaking at the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions, President of ACC Mariyam Shiuna said the commission is investigating a large number of cases, including 83 cases related to the activities held to mark the 50th Independence Day of Maldives in 2015. Shiuna said the cases have been pending for so long due to weak policies practiced by the commission over the years. She said the newly appointed members of ACC have been working hard to conclude the investigation of all cases and publish the respective reports.
The president of ACC further revealed the commission received a record number of cases last year. She said ACC prioritises cases which involve the highest public concerns, adding the commission targets to promptly reveal information acquired from investigation of cases involving misappropriation of funds from political figures holding public office.
