Supreme Court of Maldives has announced the court has begun publicising audio recordings of its trial hearings.
The announcement was made by Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan in the opening ceremony of Judicial Year 2020. The chief justice also announced the court will be making arrangements for the public to attend its hearings.
Audio recordings of trial hearings have not been publicised by any court in Maldives in the past. Journalists attending hearings are also prohibited from bringing in any recording device.
Inaugurating the new judicial year, Chief Justice Muthasim assured the judiciary will work on regaining the confidence of the public.
