Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has appointed Parliamentarian Ahmed Saleem as the minority leader.
Speaking at the parliament, Speaker Nasheed said, according to the regulations of the parliament, the minority leader must be from a party with the most opposition members in the parliament.
Most number of opposition parliamentarians are from Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) with 5 members. The speaker appointed Ahmed Saleem from the 5 parliamentarians from PPM, to lead the minority of the parliament.
