The Government of Maldives has announced the isolation of another Maldivian who returned from China, bringing the total number of individuals currently quarantined in Farukolhufushi to three.
The government revealed the person was isolated due to a visit to China within the past 14 days. Two individuals were isolated at Farukolhufushi on February 6, and the third person arrived in Maldives in the late afternoon of the same date.
The government said they are isolated as part of the precautionary measures taken against the global novel coronavirus outbreak. None of them have shown any symptoms of coronavirus since their isolation and are being monitored daily.
The government adopted additional border control measures against a coronavirus outbreak, restricting entry to all passengers, regardless of nationality, except for Maldivian citizens. Maldivian citizens will also observe a period of 14 days in quarantine from the date they leave China. As per the new safeguarding policy, 27 foreigners have been denied entry to Maldives since February 3.
So far, all individuals tested from Maldives for coronavirus have tested negative for the virus.
