Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi has revealed the seven Maldivians who were evacuated from Wuhan City, China tested negative for coronavirus.
Speaking to PSM News during her visit to New Delhi, the defence minister said 7 Maldivians and about 400 Indians evacuated from Wuhan tested negative and all of them are in good health. Although the results came negative, all of them will be quarantined for 14 days before they are released.
Minister Mariya said Indian Army extends support for the efforts of Maldives against coronavirus and further dialogues were carried on collaborations. Additionally, the defence minister discussed the actions Maldives will take in case a person is tested positive for coronavirus and clarified the support India will provide if the virus is found in Maldives. She said the administration is closely monitoring the Maldivians evacuated from Wuhan.
A Maldivian man, a child and five women were evacuated on February 2 from Wuhan, the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak.
