Halted housing projects in 4 islands set to resume

Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has decided to resume housing projects in 4 islands which had been halted.

The housing ministry said the projects which had been launched in Kulhudhuffushi City, Vilufushi, Nolhivaramfaru and Hanimaadhoo are set to be resumed, after the projects were halted following the termination of the agreement with the project contractor, Noomadi Resorts and Residences Private Limited.

Noomadi had been contracted to develop 140 housing units in Kulhudhuffushi, of which 100 units remained incomplete when the project was halted. The ministry has now opened the construction of these 100 units for tender, in addition to the 5 incomplete units from the project conducted by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to develop 25 housing units in the city. The deadline to submit tender for the project is March 4.

Additionally, the ministry has opened the construction of 100 housing units in Vilufushi for tender. Noomadi had completed the concrete structure of 64 units in Vilufushi when the agreement was terminated. The deadline to submit tender to complete the project in Vilufushi is March 2.

Furthermore, the ministry has also opened the construction of 100 housing units each in Hanimaadhoo and Nolhivaramfaru for tender. Noomadi had completed the concrete structure of 54 units in Hanimaadhoo when the agreement was terminated. Submission of tender for the incomplete components of the project will be open until March 4.

The administration has been conducting efforts to resume and complete housing projects in various islands which have been halted for different reasons. The administration has assured the housing units will be handed over to its recipients as soon as possible.
