Ministry of Islamic Affairs has contracted Maris Construction Private Limited to develop a Quran centre in Fuvahmulah City.
The centre was contracted to be developed in 10 months at a cost of USD 402,000 allocated from the budget of Centre for Holy Quran. At the ceremony held to award the project, the contract was signed by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir and Managing Director of Maris Construction Mohamed Saeed.
Speaking at the function, Minister Zahir said the administration intends to open branches of the Centre for Holy Quran on various islands as part of the efforts to spread Quranic knowledge.
The two storey-building to be developed in Fuvahmulah City will be equipped with 4 classrooms, an auditorium, a library and other study areas. The centre will offer the same programmes as the Centre for Holy Quran and the ministry hopes to offer programmes of the same quality.
