A survey conducted by US-based International Republic Institute (IRI) has showed the people of Maldives are content and satisfied with the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
According to the result of the survey participated by 1,000 people, 61% of the people supported President Solih, while 56% showed support towards the administration. A large percentage of people who participated in the survey believed the administration has taken various measures to mitigate corruption and ensure justice in Maldives.
The survey showed President Solih listens to concerns of the public and tries to address them. The participants also expressed content over the economic direction of the country.
While 75% believed the Maldivian economy is good, they believed the economy will further grow in the coming years. Participants also supported the decentralisation policy of the administration and believed the policy better suits the Maldives with 75% choosing in favour.
Additionally, 63% believed the general population is not affected by corruption in Maldives. According to participants, the biggest challenge faced by the country is political instability in the country, in addition to problems with housing, prevalence of drug abuse and limited job opportunities.
