State to establish an agriculture company to market local produce

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced a state-owned agriculture company will be established this year to market local produce.

Delivering the presidential address, President Solih said the state-owned company is to be established in cooperation with Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture. Noting a main complaint from farmers is the lack of strategies to market their produce, the president said the new company will help farmers efficiently market and sell their produce. He added the company will assist in bringing revolutionary changes to the farming and agriculture sector of the country.

The company will enable the sale of local products from north and south of the country at a cheaper price sustainably.
