Quarantine facility established at presidential retreat

The Government of Maldives has declared the presidential retreat, Aarah, as a quarantine facility for novel coronavirus.

Speaking at the daily press conference held to inform the public on the coronavirus outbreak, Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed said President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has proposed to utilise Aarah as a quarantine facility. He said the island has now been fully prepared as a quarantine facility.

Furthermore, Minister Ali Waheed revealed efforts are underway to establish quarantine facilities in Farukolhufushi as well. The minister noted arrangements have been made to tackle an outbreak in Maldives, assuring the country is fully prepared.

Moreover, the minister said all passengers entering Maldives via any port will be fully screened using thermal cameras. He revealed further camera setups and technical experts will arrive in Maldives on February 4.
