ECM receives 373 complaints on voters' list

Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has announced 373 complaints were received to the voters' list published for the upcoming local council elections. The deadline to submit complaints regarding the voters' list expired on January 31.

ECM told PSM News most complaints were regarding the names of deceased included in the list and issues of changes in addresses. ECM revealed efforts are launched to make amendments to the provisional list adding within five days the voters' list will be published on the gazette.

ECM added the public will be given opportunity to submit complaints regarding the amended list. The commission expressed the aim is to publish the final list after ensuring all complaints are resolved.

The upcoming local council elections is scheduled to be held on April 4 along with womens’ development committee elections.
