Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed has stated over 2,000 bookings have been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Speaking in a press briefing held to deliver information on the precautions taken over the coronavirus outbreak, Tourism Minister Ali Waheed said as of late Tuesday, 2,083 bookings have been cancelled of which 1,468 bookings are from Chinese tourists.
The government has ensured necessary measures are being taken to stop a possible reach of coronavirus to Maldives, while efforts are also underway to ensure the steps do not have a negative impact on the tourism sector of Maldives.
The government has installed thermal camera in Velana International Airport (VIA) and Gan International Airport to screen the passengers. Moreover, the government has made treatment arrangements if coronavirus is found in Maldives.
