Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has stated the 100 housing units contracted to be developed in Naifaru have been designed in an approach that suits island lifestyle.
The development of 100 housing units in Naifaru, Lhaviyani Atoll under Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP), which will cost USD 4.66 million, has been contracted to Rasheed Carpentry and Constructions (RCC). The contract was signed by Deputy Minister of Housing Mohamed Khalis Shareef and Managing Director of RCC Ibrahim Rasheed. RCC was contracted to complete the project in 11 months.
Speaking at the function, Deputy Minister Khalis said the aim is to develop housing units without losing the natural beauty and the island lifestyle. Managing Director of RCC reiterated the same philosophy, highlighting the housing units will include plantations and play areas.
The units will include three 3-storey blocks and one 4-storey block. The 3-storey blocks will include 24 apartments, while the 4-storey block will include 28 apartments. All the apartments have been designed to include 3 rooms with attached toilets and a living room.
Additionally, the project will also see the development of a one-story housing unit to be given to a migrant from Maafilafushi.
