Health Emergency Coordination Committee has conducted a discussion meeting on preventing the spread of coronavirus in Maldives.
During this meeting, discussions were held on the initiations by various authorities against the spread of the highly contagious disease and ways in which authorities can collaborate with each other in such efforts. Discussions were also held on the action plan set by the administration on the spread of the disease.
The coordination committee was established under the National Health Emergency Operations Plan to coordinate the operations of the administration during national health emergencies. The committee includes officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Customs, Maldives Immigration, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Hulhumale’ Hospital and aviation authorities.
Ministry of Health has assured no signs of the coronavirus has been found in Maldives so far. However, the ministry has been taking steps to prepare for a spread of the disease.
