Maldivians in Wuhan to receive financial assistance within 2 days

Ambassador of Maldives to China Aishath Azeema has revealed financial assistance will be provided to all Maldivians in Wuhan City within the next two days, following the outbreak of novel coronavirus in China.

Speaking to PSM News regarding the decision of the government to provide financial assistance to Maldivians in Wuhan city, Ambassador Azeema revealed there are 10 Maldivians living in Wuhan City, according to information in the embassy. However, the ambassador said only seven Maldivians are currently in the city, of which five are students and two are family members of the students. She assured all of them are safe and in good health.

Following the outbreak, some Maldivian students in China have been asking to return back to Maldives, according to the Maldivian embassy in China. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China has assured to ensure the safety of foreign students and foreigners in the country.

According to information received from the embassy in Beijing, 43 Maldivians are currently living in different parts of China.
