ECM receives 33 complaints regarding voters' list

Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has revealed the voters' list for the upcoming local council elections has received 33 complaints thus far.

Assistant Director of ECM Aminath Azeefa said the opportunity to submit complaints to the voters' list is open until January 30, noting it is important that voters confirm their details are stated correctly in the list during the period. In this regard, Azeefa requested voters to confirm whether their names and addresses are stated correctly in the list.

Azeefa added voters would only need to re-register if their permanent address has changed or if they plan to vote at a different location from where they voted during the parliamentary elections last April. She said the commission is working to ensure all discrepancies in the list are corrected before the election.

Meanwhile, ECM revealed over 6,000 officials are required for the upcoming elections. The commission said efforts are underway in collaboration with relevant authorities to seek officials for the election.
