Target is to prepare 5,000 youths for the job market this year: Economic Minister

Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has stated the administration aims to prepare 5,000 youths for the job market this year.

Speaking to the media after signing an agreement to train locals at Maldives Polytechnic, Minister Fayyaz said the efforts are underway to identify the areas the country needs trained professionals. Adding the agreement with Maldives Polytechnic is an important step in training professionals, the minister said the aim of the administration is to prepare 5,000 youths before the end of the year. He expressed worry that foreigners are employed in high and middle level jobs, adding Maldives needs to train more professionals.

Furthermore, the economic minister revealed a training centre will be established in each atoll in collaboration with Maldives Polytechnic and Ministry of Higher Education.
