BroadCom and PSM hold discussions on ISDB-T project

Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom) has held discussions with Public Service Media (PSM) regarding the Integrated Service Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial (ISDB-T) project. The project is conducted with the assistance of Government of Maldives.

Speaking at the meeting, officials from PSM said the project will commence in March with the aim to conclude within 18 months. PSM noted the project is to be conducted in different phases and will see the construction of signal towers in 18 islands. Highlighting the cooperation of Broadcom is crucial to carry out the project successfully, PSM called for the cooperation of the commission on the project.

This project will provide ISDB-T digital television network and mobile television services through Maldives, making information more accessible to residents and reducing information disparities among islands. This initiative will also advance speedy communication of emergency warning information as a measure against climate change and to strengthen disaster preparedness.

The project is aimed to provide digital television services to 90% of the population by early 2021.
