Foreign Minister calls on CSC to speed up processes

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has called on Civil Service Commission (CSC) to speed up its processes and procedures.

Addressing the ceremony held to appoint a new permanent secretary to the ministry, Foreign Minister Shahid widely criticised CSC, stating procedures of CSC must be completed sooner and in a way it does not disrupt tasks of the ministries. In this regard, he noted it took CSC more than 100 days to finalise a permanent secretary to the foreign ministry.

Speaking further, the minister acknowledged civil servants work immensely to assist government institutions and thanked them for their hard work. Shahid also noted CSC should provide assistance and support to the institutions to conduct the assigned tasks. However, he highlighted CSC needs to work more promptly in assisting the administration to achieve its pledges.

Aminath Shifana, who had previously worked at the foreign ministry for 11 years, was appointed as the permanent secretary. She previously worked as the permanent secretary at Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services.
