A capsised boat has been found near Medhufushi Island Resort, Meemu Atoll.
Officers from Maldives Police Service (MPS) and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) are currently investigating the boat. According to MPS, the boat is suspected to be a Sri Lankan fishing boat.
MPS said it received reports on the boat around 1 pm today. The police added no person has been found near the boat.
Several illegal fishing vessels have been captured in Maldivian waters recently. While the capsised boat is currently under investigation, it is noteworthy that mysterious parcels were recently found in various areas of the country. Furthermore, a skull has also been found on a beach.
