Thinadhoo Island Council has begun leasing land plots for agriculture from the industrial zone in the island.
The local council said lease land plots of 2,000 square feet will be leased from the industrial zone. The land plots are to be leased on condition that agricultural work must begin within 6 months of signing the agreement. The council has prohibited any third-party leasing or additional leasing of the specified plots.
The administration has initiated projects to promote farming and agriculture in the islands to empower citizens.
