Maldives to launch 6 more projects with aid from India

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has revealed plans to launch six projects in Maldives with assistance from India.

Speaking to PSM News during the trip made to India to attend Raisina Dialogue 2020, Foreign Minister Shahid said he met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding discussions were focused on the situation of Maldives and the development projects conducted. The minister noted Maldives and India prioritise close ties between both countries, highlighting Prime Minister Modi reassured commitment to assist in the development of Maldives.

Since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih assumed office, India and Maldives have boosted relations, with India providing aid to Maldives to conduct various projects. In this regard, India provided funds to conduct socio-economic development projects in Maldives.

Maldives established relations with India in November 1965.
