Changes brought by MDP have been accepted by the public: Nasheed

President of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Mohamed Nasheed has stated the citizens have accepted the changes brought by the party in running the country.

Speaking at a ceremony held at Kulhudhuffushi City by MDP, Nasheed said the citizens have ensured their trust to the administration. Nasheed, who is the also the Speaker of Parliament, described the supermajority of MDP in the parliament as a major milestone achievement.

Speaking further, Nasheed noted the local council elections will renew public trust for the administration. He said the efforts of the administration to eliminate dependance on the central government and decentralise Maldives was accepted by the public as the decision granted more freedom to the people living outside the capital.

Nasheed led a 300-member delegation Haa Alifu Atoll and Haa Dhaalu Atoll and held campaign activities in 10 islands, in the wake of the upcoming local council election. MDP has decided to compete for all the seats in the local council elections scheduled to be held on April 4.
