Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has met with the first Chief of Defence Staff of India, General Bipin Rawat. The meeting was held at the Manekshaw Centre on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue 2020 held in New Delhi, India.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid conveyed commitment of Maldives to close cooperation with India in safeguarding of peace and security in the Indian Ocean. The foreign minister was accompanied by Ambassador of Maldives to India Aishath Mohamed Didi during the meeting.
Since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih assumed office in November 2018, the relations between Maldives and India have enhanced, especially in the areas of military cooperation and security.
