With the inauguration of AEH, the administration has decided to abolish Hithadhoo Regional Hospital (HRH). Most of the services in HRH have now been transferred to AEH, with only emergency and in-patient services yet to be transferred.

The official from the hospital said only ophthalmologists and general physicians can be consulted at HRH right now, with general physicians distributing their consultation hours among the two hospitals. The official said general physicians will provide consultation services at AEH from 8 am to 4 pm, and at HRH from 4 pm to 10 pm.

AEH is the first tertiary hospital established outside of the Male’ region. While the transfer of services from HRH to AEH is ongoing, the hospital says the transfer will be done without causing inconvenience to the public.
