HDC files complaint to ACC against former CEO

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has filed a complaint to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against its former CEO Ahmed Bunyamin for his decision to waive fines worth over USD 3.1 million.

The fines incurred by owners of flats in Hulhumale’ who had failed to settle payments to HDC were waived just two days before the presidential elections in 2018. Managing director of HDC Suhail Ahmed said internal audit of the company revealed the decision was not approved by the board of directors. He said the decision has cost the company a loss of over USD 3.1 million.

The managing director said a complaint has now been lodged at ACC against former CEO of HDC Ahmed Bunyamin, who was the head of the company at the time. Suhail said the company has also dismissed some employees who were found to have taken part in corrupt acts committed by the previous management of HDC.
