Government of Japan has provided a grant to develop the Home for People with Special Needs in Guraidhoo, Kaafu Atoll.
The Japanese Government provided a grant of USD 86,961 to refurbish the healthcare facility of the special needs home in Guraidhoo. The grant includes finances required to renovate the facility as well as new equipment.
The grant agreement was signed by Ambassador of Japan to Maldives Keiko Yanai and CEO of the special needs home Imran Ibrahim. Speaking at the function held to sign the grant agreement, Ambassador Yanai said the Japanese Government will continue to assist Maldives in improving social welfare and expressed hope the grant will help to provide better healthcare in the special needs home.
Meanwhile, CEO Imran said the institution faces several challenges in providing emergency treatment to the patients, expressing the grant will help to bring major improvements to the emergency health services in the facility.
The equipment donated as part of the grant include 4 patient beds, 4 electrocardiograph systems, 4 aspirators, 4 sets of surgery equipment, 2 respirators and an autoclave.
