Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve to cater for 10,000 tourists in 2020

Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office has revealed plans to bring in 10,000 tourists to the area by the end of 2020.

Speaking to PSM News, Outreach Officer Shafee Ali said 8,200 tourists visited the area in 2019, compared to the 6,000 tourists that visited the area in 2018. Shafee said 11% of the 8,200 tourists that visited the area in 2019 were local tourists. He said efforts are underway to reach the target of 10,000 in 2020, adding meetings will be held with the stakeholders.

Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office conducts the Manta Festival every year from May to November, which is a major attraction for tourists.
