MDP asks members to file complaints regarding voters’ list before January 10

The main ruling party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), has asked its members to file any complaints regarding the voters’ list for the party’s primary by January 10.

In a statement, MDP said it has published the voters’ list in preparations for the party primary to be held on January 31. However, MDP has not published the voters’ list for the 4 cities, adding the lists for Male' City, Kulhudhuffushi City, Fuvahmulah City and Addu City will be published seperately after taking in to account the changes brought to the constituencies.

MDP said its party primary to be held on January 31 would be the largest primary held by a party in the country. The party has planned to finalise and publish the final voters’ list on January 15.

The primary will elect the candidates who would compete for the local council elections from MDP. Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has announced the local council elections would be held on April 4.
