Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has said it is worrisome that some parties are working to disrupt the status of the tourism industry of the country.
A statement issued by MATATO said the main pillars and capital of the tourism sector are the employees, adding, it is therefore worrisome that some parties are misusing the welfare of locals working in the sector to disrupt the tourism industry. The association called to refrain from any such action that will influence the teamwork of the employees of the tourism sector.
Furthermore, MATATO remarked that some individuals have turned the context of what Minster of Tourism Ali Waheed said regarding service charge. The association advised to refrain from actions which will demean the reputation of the tourism minister to achieve political propagandas.
