Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has advised all passengers departing from Velana International Airport (VIA) to arrive at the airport three hours before departure.
MACL says VIA is currently undergoing an extremely busy period in operations due to the peak season of tourism. The company said passengers are advised to arrive at the airport three hours before departure time to avoid any complications due to the congestion in the airport.
Meanwhile, there have been public concerns on the frequent flight delays that have been occurring at the airport recently. Several flights inbound to VIA have also been forced to delay landing due to congestion in the airport.
The administration has been conducting several projects to ease the traffic in VIA. A new apron was officially opened in July 2019, while construction of a new passenger terminal and runway is ongoing.
