IUM appoints new deans to its centres

Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) has appointed new deans to the university’s Kulliyyahs and centres. The newly appointed deans were presented with their letters of appointment in a special function held at IUM today.

The newly appointed deans to IUM are as follows:

  • Dr. Ismail Shafeeu – Dean of the Centre for Research and Publications
  • Dr. Abdulla Jameel – Dean of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies
  • Ishaq Mohamed Fulhu – Dean of the Kulliyyah of Arabic Language
  • Dr. Aishath Reesha – Dean of the Kulliyyah of Education
  • Mohamed Shujau Abdul Hakeem – Dean of the Kulliyyah of Shariah and Law
  • Ahmed Saleem Hussain – Dean of the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences


IUM says the new appointments were selected after interviewing all eligible candidates who applied for the positions. Apart from Dr. Abdulla Jameel, all other new appointees had been working as deans in different centres in IUM. Upon their appointment, they will serve in their position for the next four years.

Speaking at the function held to present the letters of appointment, Chancellor of IUM Dr. Mohamed Zahir Hussain highlighted the importance of working together to achieve the common goal of raising the standards of the university and urged for mutual cooperation amongst all centres in working for the development of the university.
