National Boating Association of Maldives (NBAM) has said occupancy of safaris is currently over 90% as the tourist season reaches its peak.
The peak season sees a rise in tourist arrivals in not only resorts, but safaris and guesthouses as well. Speaking to PSM News, NBAM said safaris are currently in high demand, with a high occupancy expected till the end of February. They informed that occupancy of safaris is currently above 90%.
Tourists generally book safaris for activities such as diving, fishing and cruising. NBAM says tourists generally spend 7-10 days on safaris.
Currently, 154 safaris are registered in Maldives. Several safari operators complain of the difficulties in advertising their safaris and in docking the vessels. Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed recently announced a lagoon will be developed in Male Atoll to dock safaris.
