Addu City Council receives 63 bids for local tourism development

Addu City Council has revealed it has received bids for 63 of the 80 land plots allocated for local tourism development.

The council of the second largest city in Maldives initially opened 96 land plots for local tourism development. However, since residents wanted to change the locations of the land plots allocated in Meedhoo, the bidding process for 16 land plots have been halted. Therefore, bidding was continued for 80 land plots.

Addu City expects to have 4,000 bed capacity when all the land plots are developed. In addition, the city council plans to develop public service facilities and beach areas as part of the initiation. The council will also announce for bids to develop diving centres and other tourism-related facilities.
