Immigration submits suspected human trafficking to police

Maldives Immigration has sent 3 cases of human trafficking to Maldives Police Service (MPS) for investigation.

On December 11, Immigration sent cases of 3 companies suspected of bringing labourers for projects illegally and by submitting forged documents. In the request to MPS, Immigration asked the police to investigate the accomplices and the transactions related to the 3 companies under investigation. Immigration has also halted all services it provides to the three companies until the investigations are over.

It has sent a total of 27 cases of human trafficking. Immigration is working firmly in mitigating the problem of human trafficking to Maldives, in collaboration with relevant authorities, according to statistics from Immigration.
