Voters required to register only if voting place changes: ECM

Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has stated voters are only required to register for the Local Council Elections if the place of vomiting changes from that of the last Parliamentary Election.

Speaking on a programme aired on PSM news, Member of ECM Fuwad Thaufeeq revealed every voter will be registered to their place of voting of parliamentary election rather than undergoing the registration process. Fuwad Thaufeeq said if they wish to vote in a different place, the voter must register for the local council election. However, every voter voting in different countries and resorts must register, Fuwad revealed.

ECM decided to place ballot boxes for the upcoming local council election in countries if registered voters exceed 150. Meanwhile, ballot boxes will be placed in resorts with over 50 registered voters and jails with more than 25 registered voters.
