Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has met with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, exchanging views on further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. The meeting was held during the multiparty parliamentary delegation's visit to India.
Speaker Nasheed and PM Modi also discussed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the parliament signed with the lower house of India's bicameral parliament Lok Sabha.
In a tweet, Nasheed stated the topics discussed in the meeting with Modi included regional and global issues, climate change, Paris targets and renewable energy. After the meeting with Speaker Nasheed, Modi also met with the parliamentary delegation currently visiting India.
During the trip the Speaker signed an agreement between Lok Sabha and Parliament of Maldives, under which the two parliaments will cooperate to strengthen the relationship in addition to providing training opportunities to the secretariat. The agreement was signed by Speaker Nasheed and the Speaker of Lok Sabha Om Birla.
