Fenaka Corporation has decided to link water supplies of islands in three geographical zones in the country.
Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Ahmed Saeed Mohamed stated Fenaka is working on to provide the best utility services to public by improving efficiency. Saeed noted Fenaka is the only company that provides the most fundamental services, covering the largest area of the country. He outlined the projects of Fenaka in trying to overcome the challenges faced by the company.
Saeed said researches and assessments are being conducted to upgrade water and sewerage systems in the islands. He noted the research will enable to link water supply systems of islands in three geographical zones of the country next year.
Saeed said the assessment report found that Laamu and Meemu Atolls are more convenient to conduct such a project, adding the company is working to include a third region in the plan. He said a pipeline network connecting the islands is expected reduce cost in the future.
Saeed remarked that such a system of merger has successfully being conducted in other countries even though it is a new concept in Maldives. He also said the company has decided to introduce services such as smart meter and smart bills next year.
