Police begins preliminary work to probe into former minister Muizzu

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has begun the preliminary procedures of probing into former Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu over the Noomadi compensation case.

MPS is preparing to investigate Muizzu's actions following request from Attorney General's Office over allegations that his actions forced the government to consider a settlement agreement with Noomadi Resorts and Residences Private Limited. MPS said it is currently conducting the preliminary work before commencing the investigation.

Speaking at the parliament, Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath said the government has had to bear huge settlement amounts due to the testimony from Muizzu against the state in the arbitration process.
