Local Council Election Advisory Committee holds its first meeting

The advisory committee established for the local council elections has held its first meeting.

Speaking to PSM News, President of Elections Commissions of Maldives (ECM) Ahmed Shareef said the meeting was held to discuss the participation of the committee and detailing its work for the upcoming local council elections. He revealed the meetings of the advisory committee will be held every two weeks initially, adding a meeting per week will be held when the date nears.

The Local Council Election Advisory Committee was formed with members from political parties, non-governmental organisations and relevant authorities. The election is scheduled to be held on April 4, 2020.
