Polytechnic signs training agreement with MWSC

Maldives Polytechnic has signed an agreement with Maldives Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) to train skilled individuals in technical fields. The agreement was signed by CEO of Polytechnic Ahmed Nasir and Managing Director of MWSC Adam Azim.

Speaking at the function, Adam Azim said MWSC aims to develop engineering, mechanical and technical sectors in Maldives. Highlighting the little interest the youth has for such fields, Azim further said recruiting skilled workers in these areas tend to be problematic for companies. He also highlighted the role larger corporates must play in the efforts of Polytechnic in creating skilled workers in professional areas.

Furthermore, Azim also called corporates to support the work polytechnic is doing to become a renowned training provider. Assuring maximum support from MWSC, he said the larger corporates in the country must contribute to widen the services of the polytechnic.

Speaking at the function, Ahmed Nasir said Maldives needs to put more efforts to develop skilled workers to meet the demands of various sectors in the country. He called companies operating in all sectors to develop a better relationship with polytechnic in offering job opportunities and internship as part of developing a skilled workforce.

Under the agreement signed with MWSC, students from Polytechnic will work at MWSC as part of their internships. MWSC will also further support for students in technical areas.
