Ministry of Finance has listed 19 state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to be abolished due to inactivity.
The ministry listed 16 SOEs decided to be abolished in 2016, 1 SOE decided to be abolished in 2018 and 2 SOEs decided to be abolished in 2019. The most notable SOEs included in the list are Maldives National Broadcasting Corporation Limited (MNBC), Felivaru Fisheries Maldives Limited, Kooddoo Fisheries Maldives Limited, Gan Airport Company Limited and Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC).
Ministry of Finance said the SOEs have been inactive for a number of years and have incurred losses which had obstructed the running of the companies.
