Supreme Court, High Court and Civil Court in recess

Supreme Court, High Court and Civil Court has gone into recess.

As per Clause 7 of the Judicature Act of Maldives, Supreme Court will be in recess from the last working day of November until the first working day of January every year. The Supreme Court said the administration of the court will continue even during the recess period.

High Court went into recess from December 1. Although High Court goes into recess on December 1 under Clause 4 of the regulations, it will continue hearings of cases that require urgent action. Additionally, verdict hearings will also continue at High Court, given the two parties consent to a verdict hearing.

In addition to Supreme Court and High Court, Civil Court also went into recess from December 1-20. Civil Court will also conduct hearings on urgent case orders and cases that require temporary warrants on a basis set by the judge presiding over the cases. During the recess period, Civil Court generally carry all administrative tasks and the compilation of case reports.

The administration of the courts will be halted or delayed during the recess period.
