Maldives and China discuss ways of strengthening bilateral ties

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has discussed ways of strengthening bilateral relations between Maldives and China. The discussion took place during a meeting held between Foreign Minister Shahid and the Governor of Yunnan Province, China, Ruan Chengfa.

During the meeting, Minister Shahid welcomed the governor and his delegation to the Maldives. He highlighted the close bilateral relations shared by Maldives and China, and discussed ways of further strengthening the existing ties between the two countries, especially in areas of trade, tourism, agriculture, sports and education.

Both the minister and the governor expressed confidence that Maldives and China will continue working together both bilaterally and internationally on issues of mutual concern, to enhance the existing ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Shahid was accompanied by Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed and Multilateral Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed.
