The parliament has approved the appointment of Ambassador from Maldives to Saudi Arabia Mohamed Khaleel as the Non-resident Ambassador to Oman. 73 lawmakers voted in favour of approving Khaleel as the Non-resident Ambassador to Oman.
The appointment was made after the Ambassador from Maldives to UAE Dr. Hussain Niyaz requested to remove him as the Non-resident Ambassador to Oman. Niyaz is also the Non-resident Ambassador from Maldives to Bahrain.
The Ambassador from Maldives to Saudi Arabic, Khaleel was appointed on June 16 this year. Mohamed Khaleel formerly served as the high commissioner and acting high commissioner from Maldives to Singapore. Khaleel has been serving various positions in the government since 1983.
He completed his Diploma in Environmental Law and Policy at the Jawaharlal Nehru University of India.
