Maldives to discuss on obtaining duty exemption for tuna at the EU market

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed Maldives will discuss with the Government of Finland on obtaining duty exemption for Maldives tuna at the European Union (EU) market

The discussions will be held during the official visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid to Finland from November 27-29, according to foreign ministry. During the visit, the foreign minister will also discuss on obtaining visa free access for Maldivians, to the countries of the EU. The minister will hold bilateral talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland Pekka Haavisto and explore avenues for cooperation to fortify the existing bilateral relations between both countries. He will also meet with Minister of Education of Finland Li Andersson and with the business community to explore possibilities to reinforce trade ties and education cooperation between the two countries.

During the visit, Minister Shahid will also sign an Air Services Agreement. The agreement will allow international commercial air transport services between Maldives and Finland, enhancing the people to people contact as well as the broader economic cooperation between both countries.

Finland holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
