Maldives and Morocco sign a visa waiver agreement

Maldives and Morocco have signed an agreement on the exemption of a visa requirement for their respective nationals. The agreement was signed following a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita as part of the official visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid to Morocco. This is the first time a Maldivian foreign minister travelled to Morocco on an official visit.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Morocco, Minister Shahid delivered a letter from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih addressed to King of Morocco Mohammed VI and held discussions on a wide range of issues of mutual interest. Both Ministers reiterated commitment to further strengthen the bilateral partnership between the two countries in areas such as economic cooperation, people-to-people contact, culture and heritage, counter-terrorism and radicalization, education and climates change.

The other agreements signed during the visit include an Agreement for Islamic Cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation and Memorandum of Understanding between the Foreign Service Institute.
