Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions has begun reviewing the nominations submitted by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to be appointed to the vacant positions at Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC).
The nominations were submitted to the positions left vacant following the resignation of President of MBC Mohamed Shaheeb and the removal of Vice President of MBC Fathimath Zeyna in a parliament vote. President Solih nominated Mariyam Waheedha, Aminath Ameena, Imrana Binth Abdulla and Aishath Dhiyana Thahir, Hassan Irufan and Dr Ibrahim Shiyam to be appointed for the vacant positions.
Meanwhile, the parliament is close to appointing 2 new members to MBC following the completion of all procedures. A total of 36 individuals have submitted applications for the positions left vacant by the resignation of former Vice President of MBC Ismail Sofwan and member Hassan Nabah.
