Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Thoyyib Mohamed has revealed the decision to conduct other means to promote Maldives as a tourism destination rather than participating in tourism fairs and exhibitions.
Speaking to PSM News while attending the World Travel Market London (WTM) 2019, Thoyyib said the ways to promote a tourist destinations are changing around the world, adding interaction in social media has increased over the years. In this regard, he revealed MMPRC has decided to prioritise unofficial meetings and discussions beginning from next year. He added the decision was made following consultations with the stakeholders from the tourism industry.
WTM 2019 is 40th edition with Maldives taking part for the 35th time. It is regarded as one of the largest travel exhibitions in the world, with over 51,000 participants every year. 161 representatives from 63 companies are attending from Maldives at WTM 2019.
